Day 1: Lisbon
Welcome to Portugal. Pick up Rent a Car at Lisbon Airport to begin your epic journey. The day is at your leisure to explore the city of Lisbon.
Day 2: Lisbon / Escaroupim / Golegã
After breakfast, check out of the hotel for your trip to Escaroupim village. Boarding for boat trip on the river Tagus, tour of the villages of Avieiras da Palhota and Escaroupim. Visit to the Avieiro do Escaroupim Museum Continue to Santarém brief visit. Trip to Golegã. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: Golegã / Tomar / Golegã
The day begins with breakfast in your hotel followed by a trip to Tomar, a UNESCO Heritage city full of history and
mysticism as it was the headquarters of the Templar Knights. Visit the Convent of Christ, the Synagogue and the Saint John Baptist Church. After lunch, trip to the hotel in Golegã to explore the unique Studio/House Carlos Relvas. Remainder of the day is at your disposal.
Day 4: Golegã / Coimbra / Curia
After breakfast and checkout, the day begins with a drive to Coimbra, the city of knowledge and home to one of the oldest universities in Europe. Go back in time exploring its XVI century library that is classified World Heritage by UNESCO. This afterternoon we visit a singular place, the Aliança Underground Museum. Aliança is one of the main wine producers in Portugal.
Day 5: Curia / Aveiro / Guimarães
The day begins with breakfast at your hotel followed by check out. Continue to travel to Aveiro where a beautiful ride in one of the typical boats of Aveiro (the ‘Moliceiros’) awaits you. During the trip you can sample regional traditionional delicacies Ovos Moles”Moles”(egg sweet). After lunch, we head to Guimarães.
Day 6: Guimarães / Braga
Following breakfast and check out, enjoy the morning with a tour to the city center of Guimarães – visit the Castle, the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza and the historical center, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The afternoon is at leisure to explore more of Guimarães followed by a trip to Braga.
Day 7: Braga / Porto
Start the day with a visit to Braga one of the oldest Portuguese and Christian cities in the world. Visit the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus, classified as UNESCO World Heritage in 2019 combining the work of nature and man. Visit to the Cathedral of Braga, enjoy the beautiful gardens of Santa Barbara followed by a visit to Republic Square. This afternoon, we continue our journey with a trip to Porto.
Day 8: Porto / Gondomar / Porto
The morning begins with a trip to Gondomar, known for its jewelry. The municipality holds the title of the Jewelry Capital
in Portugal. Learn and try the craft techniques employed in the traditional art of filigree. After lunch we continue with a trip to Porto to see the Clerigos Tower, Aliados Avenue, Cathedral, St Bento Train Station and the Ribeira District. Visit the famous Porto wine cellars and enjoy an exciting wine tasting experience. It’s time to say farewell – drop off the Rent a Car at the airport and continue with your onward journey.
