Spain, Portugal, and Morocco: A Cultural Journey

Day 1: Arrival in Lisbon         

Welcome to Portugal! Upon arrival, you’ll be met by your Sky Vacations ambassador who will transfer you to your hotel in Lisbon. This afternoon, your guide will meet you at the hotel for a tour of the city including Belem Tower, Jeronimos Monastery, and Monument to the Discoveries. This evening is at your leisure.

Day 2: Sintra/Cascais/Estoril

This morning, your guide will meet you at your hotel for your full day exploration of Sintra, Cascais and Estoril. Your journey begins with a visit to charming Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll tour the 14th century Pena Palace and have time to stroll the medieval streets of Sintra, shop, and have lunch. In the early afternoon, depart for the bay of Cascais, the last summer residence of the Portuguese royal family. One of the most beautiful places in Portugal, you’ll have magnificent views of stunning beaches and landscapes. Finally, visit Estoril, famous for its casino and breathtaking gardens. 

Day 3: Sevilla

Your driver will meet you at your hotel for your transfer to the Lisbon Airport and short flight to Sevilla. Upon arrival, your local Sky Vacations ambassador will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. This afternoon, take a bike tour through the city to see its most famous sights including Murillo Gardens, Plaza de España, the Cathedral, and the grandeur of the Giralda Prayer Tower. End your cycling tour at the Tower of Gold on the river bank, where you’ll embark on a leisurely cruise along the Guadalquivir River to end the day.

Day 4: Ronda

Meet your driver for a journey into Spain’s historical heartland. Your first destination is Zahara de la Sierra, which includes a visit to an olive mill where you’ll witness the age-old process of olive oil production and taste the fresh oil. From Zahara, proceed to the quaint village of Grazalema, nestled within a natural park. This is a perfect opportunity to reconnect with nature and marvel at the surrounding scenic beauty. Just before lunch, you’ll reach a family-owned countryside winery on the outskirts of Ronda for a tour the vineyards and a wine tasting, followed by lunch. Next up is Ronda, a city teeming with history and culture. Your tour includes a visit to the New Bridge, the bullfighting ring, Collegiate Church, and the medieval palace of Don Bosco. As the sun sets, return to Sevilla.

Day 5: Cordoba & Granada

Today’s journey begins with a drive from Sevilla to the historic city of Córdoba, once the beacon of advanced European civilization. Upon arrival in Córdoba, meet your local guide near the city’s jewel – the stunning Mosque-Cathedral. Its grand arches, intricate mosaics, and unique combination of Islamic and Christian influences make it a must-visit site. Your guide will take you through the narrow, winding streets of the Jewish Quarter, famous for its traditional jewelers and charming, whitewashed houses adorned with vibrant red gardenias. You’ll also visit to one of Spain’s few remaining synagogues, a testament to the country’s Sephardic Jewish history. After the guided tour, you’ll have free time to further explore Córdoba at your leisure. Once your exploration of Córdoba is complete, rejoin your driver to continue your journey towards Granada, known for its stunning Moorish architecture, deep historical roots, and flavorful cuisine. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and get ready for the next leg of your Spanish adventure.

Day 6: Granada & Alhambra

Your day begins at the gates of the Alhambra, the world-renowned gem of Moorish architecture and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your guide will transport you back to the 13th century as you walk through the sprawling complex that once served as the opulent residence of royalty. Discover the Gardens of Paradise, explore the Alcazar Fortress, and take in panoramic views of Granada and beyond. The true highlight, however, will be the Nasrid Palaces, an exquisite tapestry of intricate tilework, graceful arches, and serene courtyards that exhibit the pinnacle of Islamic art and architecture. After your morning tour, take a break and explore on your own. In the late afternoon, embark on a unique Segway tour traversing the cobblestoned paths of Albaicin and Sacromonte Quarters. Albaicin, the old Muslim quarter, charms with its winding streets and whitewashed houses, while Sacromonte is known for its intriguing cave dwellings and vibrant flamenco scene. Your Segway tour offers a thrilling way to navigate the city’s sloping landscapes and experience Granada from a totally new perspective.

Day 7: Casablanca & Fez

After breakfast, meet your driver for a transfer to Málaga Airport. Board a flight to Casablanca, the cosmopolitan heart of Morocco. Your Sky Vacations ambassador will greet you as you exit customs. Begin your Moroccan adventure with a tour of the iconic Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world. Admire the intricate detailing of the interiors and the grandeur of its towering minaret that dominates Casablanca’s skyline. After, you’re on to Fez, Morocco’s cultural and spiritual center. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy the balance of the day at leisure.

Day 8: Fez

This morning, prepare for an enchanting tour through the labyrinthine streets of Fez’s old town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Narrow alleys full of life, crafts, and history are waiting to be discovered. Your guide will take you to various Islamic schools, such as Bou Inania and El Attarine Madrasa, to admire their preserved intricate stucco and cedar engravings. Your journey continues with a visit to the famed Fez tanneries and the vibrant spectacle of workers treating and hand-dyeing skins in a rainbow of colors. Later, visit Nejjarine Square where you can relax and enjoy a refreshing mint tea on the roof terrace of Nejjarine Foundouk, an 18th-century caravanserai which is now a woodwork museum. The rest of the day is yours to explore this fascinating city.

Day 9: Marrakech & Rabat

Enjoy a picturesque morning drive south from Fez to Marrakech, stopping en route in the charming capital city of Rabat. Known for its calm yet rich history, Rabat is known for its blend of European and Arab cultures. In Rabat, visit the 12th-century Kasbah des Oudayas fortress. After a tour of Rabat, continue to the exciting Marrakech, a city that thrives in its contrasts and colors. Once you’ve checked into your Riad, take the rest of the evening to relax, you have another big day tomorrow!

Day 10: Marrakech

Your guide will meet you at your Riad for a day of exploration. Begin with a visit to the Bahia Palace, a beautifully decorated 19th-century palace showcasing the best of Moroccan and Islamic architecture. Then it’s on to the remnants of the Badi Palace. You’ll visit the Saadian Tombs, the final resting place of members of the Saadi Dynasty. Your morning tour ends with a visit to the Douiria, a small and exquisitely-decorated example of 17th-century Moroccan architecture and craftsmanship. Later this afternoon your guide will join you as you make your way to the famed Jemaa El Fna Square. This bustling marketplace comes alive with a variety of street performers, snake charmers, storytellers, daring acrobats, and street musicians. Among this lively atmosphere, delight in a wide array of street food stalls offering delicious local specialties. As the day turns into night, the square transforms into a vibrant festival of culture and life, encapsulating the spirited essence of Marrakech.

Day 11: Departure

Your driver guide will meet you at your riad and transfer you to Marrakech Airport for your onward journey.
