Arrive in Delhi
Welcome to India! Upon clearing immigration and customs, you will meet your Sky Vacations ambassador for your transfer to the hotel. The balance of the day is at your leisure for you to unwind and / or explore the city.
Optional Culinary Experience with Chef
Take a food walk led by a renowned, local chef who will guide you through the crowded markets of Old Delhi. During the walk, we will try 12 – 15 dishes from 6 – 9 different food joints. It’s the perfect chance to understand and savor the flavors of Northern India.
Day 2: Delhi
Start with a guided tour of Old Delhi featuring Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India; Asia’s largest spice market; and the famous Red Fort and Palace of the Mughal Empire. Next, we visit New Delhi, built by the British in the 1920s. Here you’ll see the Qutub Minar, a historical landmark dating to 1199 CE, as well as the India Gate, a memorial dedicated to 70,000 Indian soldiers who fought for the British Army in WWI.
Optional: Enjoy an evening visit to the mausoleum Nizamuddin Dargah that houses the tomb of Hazrat Nizamuddin, a famous Sufi saint of the Chishti Order.Day
Day 3: Delhi – Agra
After breakfast, take a leisurely drive to Agra. Home to the famous Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and is the most important fort in India, once housing the great Mughals Babur, Humayun, Akbar, Jehangir, Shah Jahan, and Aurangzeb. Much of India’s history was written within its walls.
Day 4: Agra – Bharatpur – Ranthambore
Rise early and take in the splendor of the Taj Mahal at sunrise. Built by an emperor in memory of his beloved queen, construction of the Taj Mahal began in 1631 and is believed to have taken 22 years to complete, with over 20,000 craftsmen working round the clock. Return to hotel for breakfast, checkout, and departure to Bharatpur. En route, visit Fatehpur Sikri, an abandoned city miraculously in pristine condition. Afterwards, board a train for Ranthambore, famous for its tigers.
Optional: Yoga with view of Taj Mahal
Bring the mind, body, and soul into perfect equilibrium. This hour-long introductory yoga class throws light on the basic Asanas (postures), Dhyana (meditations), and Pranayama (breathing) that constitute this holistic practice.
Day 5: Ranthambore
Today is all about wildlife. Enjoy an early morning game drive with a naturalist in the Indian jungle. Afterwards, return to hotel for breakfast and spend the rest of the morning relaxing. In the afternoon, proceed to another game drive in the National Park.
Day 6: Ranthambore – Jaipur
After breakfast at the hotel, depart for Jaipur. Known as the “Pink City,” Jaipur is the capital of the colorful state of Rajasthan. As you drive through the old part of town, witness how the city blooms during the day in a kaleidoscope of color and sound.
Day 7: Jaipur
After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to visit Amber Fort, a marvelous example of Rajput architecture. The interiors are decorated with intricate ivory, mirror, and glasswork; complemented by exquisite wall paintings. Later, proceed to visit the City Palace Museum where you can see its collection of robes, carpets, weapons, and miniature paintings. Also visit the awe inspiring Jantar Mantar, an observatory built in 1726 AD, and the Hawa Mahal, a five-story wonder with a spectacular pyramidal façade. Spend some time in the city’s crowded and colorful bazaars that sell a wide variety of artisan goods and semi-precious stones, which are the local specialty.
Optional: Pink City Rickshaw Tour
These exciting rides offer the best sights and sounds of Jaipur while also providing a new source of employment for women from lower-income households. Drivers offer you the choice between predesigned routes or something customized to your preferences.
Day 8: Jaipur – Delhi
After breakfast at the hotel, depart for Delhi. On arrival, transfer to airport to board your flight home.
