Art and architecture enthusiasts asked us to create an exciting program around the work of Oscar Niemeyer across Brazil. A world renowned architect of the 20th century, Oscar Niemeyer has defined the spirit, energy and freedom of Brazil and Brazilian culture in physical form. Incredibly, he lived until he was 104, and was still designing stunning structures up until his death in 2012. This is just one example of the custom crafted groups our team is capable of curating.

Day 1: Arrival in Sao Paulo
Welcome to São Paulo. Upon arrival you’ll be met by a Sky Vacations ambassador and transferred to your hotel. The balance of the day will be at leisure to rest up or explore South America’s biggest city. Tonight, depart the hotel for an evening tour of Sao Paulo. With your guide, explore what makes this city unlike any other in the world! After your tour, dinner at a local restaurant before returning to your hotel.
Day 2: Sao Paulo
Start your day with city tour with a walk in the downtown area. Highlights include a visit to the Sé Cathedral, the Municipal Market, the Liberdade district and Vila Madalena, the bohemian neighborhood filled with artists, graffiti handicrafts, bookstores, art galleries, and plenty of bars and restaurants. After a stop for lunch (included) stroll Trianon Park, an urban rainforest . Then, enjoy a fantastic view of the city on the Contemporary Art Museum’s rooftop. End your tour at the entrance of Ibirapuera Park, designed by Oscar Niemeyer and landscapist Roberto Burle Marx and see the Flag Monument, a large granite sculpture by Victor Brecheret that honors the explorers who came to Brazil during the XVII and XVIII centuries.
Day 3: Sao Paulo – Curitiba
Depart your hotel for the airport and board your flight to Curitiba. Upon arrival, your driver will take you on a panoramic tour that highlights the landmarks of the city, including the Opera House, Botanical Garden and Curitiba Cathedral, the Oscar Niemeyer Museum. You’ll visit the traditional Italian neighborhood of Santa Felicidade with a stop at Adega Durigan for a wine, cheese, and salami tasting! Then, it’s off for dinner before arriving to your hotel.
Day 4: Curitiba
Get to know Curitiba during with a comprehensive city tour of downtown and around its parks. Walk the pedestrian streets in old town and appreciate the vibrant colonial buildings. See the main square “Tiradentes” Square with the neo-gothic style Cathedral, Garibaldi Square, and the eclectic building at “Paço da Liberdade”. Stroll along “Rua das Flores”, a historical pedestrian street. Afterwards, appreciate the modern architecture at the Oscar Niemeyer Museum, designed by the architect himself in 1967. Nearby, at Pope’s Woods, appreciate the wooden houses in one of the city’s most important parks. End your tour at the Botanical Garden, built in 1991 with a French style that boasts elegance with many fountains, waterfalls, and lakes.
Day 4: Curitiba – Belo Horizonte
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Belo Horizonte, a city surrounded by mountains boasting the many masterpieces by Oscar Niemeyer. Your tour begins at Pampulha Lake where you have time to appreciate the buildings that surround the lake, around the lake designed by Oscar. You’ll also see the Burle Marx gardens and Portinari paintings. This project became a reference point for Brazil’s modern art and architecture and a symbol of modernism in the world.
Day 6: Belo Horizonte
Today your driver will take you south of Belo Horizonte to Inhotim, an open-air museum amid botanical gardens and mountains. The complex boasts many pavilions surrounded by one of the world’s largest botanical collections that include rare tropical species. Here, art and nature combine works from contemporary international and Brazilian artists. Appreciate the interactive exhibitions that include audio-visual and sensorial experiences.
Day 7: Belo Horizonte -Brasilia
This morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Brasilia, the capital city known as the “Capital of Hope.” A UNESCO World Heritage site, the city was planned by Lúcio Costa, Oscar Niemeyer, and Joaquim Cardozo resulting in a city characterized by innovative and modern architecture. You’ll be introduced to Brasilia this evening where the impressive, unique, and illuminated architecture of Oscar Niemeyer’s iconic buildings like the JK Memorial, the National Cathedral, the Itamaraty Palace are bathed in light. After this exciting tour, you’re off for dinner before returning to your hotel.
Day 8: Brasilia
A day to explore Brasilia’s most interesting and unique architecture. Start at the Dom Bosco Sanctuary. Then, go up the TV and Radio Tower and appreciate the panoramic views from the observatories. Continue your tour to the JK Memorial, a monument and museum that honor Juscelino Kubitsche. Another of Oscar Niemeyer’s architectural designs is the Cathedral of Brasilia. The Roman Catholic Church looks like a crown of thorns and has a beautiful stained glass ceiling. End your tour at the Lúcio Costa Cultural Space to learn about the urban planner who helped design the capital and appreciate the gigantic architectural model of Brasilia. After your tour and lunch, return to the hotel where the balance of the day is yours.
Day 9: Brasilia-Rio De Janeiro
Today, depart for exciting, Rio! Your guide will meet you at the hotel and transfer you to the airport for your flight to Rio de Janeiro! Upon arrival, a Sky Vacations ambassador will meet you and get you to your hotel where you’ll have time to relax before dinner (included).
Day 10: Rio De Janeiro
Meet your guide at the hotel and drive to Rio’s downtown area. Appreciate the city’s landmarks and some of its finest architecture, like the Candelaria church and the Carioca aqueduct. Then, from the Urca district, take two glass cable cars and observe the lush vegetation surrounding the iconic Sugar Loaf Mountain. From the top, see the spectacular views of Rio de Janeiro. After lunch, head to the Come Velho district and take the train through the Tijuca forest up the Corcovado Mountain. Feel at one with nature as you enjoy the verdant rainforest and views. At the top of one of Rio de Janeiro’s most privileged belvederes, admire the well-known Christ the Redeemer statue and the stunning views of the “Marvelous City”.
Day 11: Rio De Janeiro
An exciting day awaits! Today enjoy a full day your where to Niteroi where your guide will help you explore this city across the 14KM bridge where you’ll get to see Rio from another perspective. You’ll visit the famous MAC (the Contemporary Art Museum) and other spaces designed by Oscar Niemeyer before returning to your Rio hotel.
Day 12: Rio De Janeiro
Transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
