Day 1 – Arrival in Amman

Upon arrival at Queen Alia International Airport, you will be met by your Sky Vacations ambassador, who will assist you through immigration. You’ll then be transferred to your hotel in Amman.

Day 2 – Explore Amman

After breakfast, depart on a tour of the old city of Amman and see the Citadel and the Roman Theatre, two of the most popular archaeological sites in the city.  Then head east into the desert to visit some of Jordan’s Desert Castles, which are beautiful examples of early Islamic art and architecture with fine mosaics and fresco. See the stunning artwork in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Qasr Amra. Return to Amman for the night.

Day 3 – Day trip to Jerash

This morning, take a drive to Jerash, known as the ‘Pompeii of the East’, one of the best-preserved Roman provincial towns. Along its colonnaded main street, you can see the Cardo, the South Theater, the Temple of Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch, the Temple of Artemis, and the Nymphaeum. The city’s 14 churches date back to the Byzantine era and are adorned with fine mosaics. Continue west to the 12th-century Arab castle of Saladin, Qalaat al Rabad (Ajloun), one of the finest examples of military architecture. Afterwards, return to your hotel in Amman.

Day 4 – Travel to Petra

Today’s breakfast is followed by a transfer to Petra. En-route, visit Madaba, Mount Nebo and Kerak (Kings Highway). The trip south from the Dead Sea takes you to the 5,000-year-old King’s Highway, one of the most memorable journeys in the Holy Land which passes through a string of ancient sites. The first city you come upon is Madaba, “the City of Mosaics”. Madaba’s chief attraction in the contemporary Greek Orthodox Church of St. Georg, is a wonderfully vivid sixth-century Byzantine mosaic map showing Jerusalem and other holy sites. Nearby is the most revered site in Jordan: Mount Nebo, the memorial of Moses, the presumed site of the prophet’s death and burial place. Later head to Kerak, famous for its crusader fortress in the center of underground galleries, rooms, and secret passageways and its thick defensive walls pierced by narrow arrow slits.

Day 5 – Explore Petra

Today you visit Petra, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. This 10,000-year-old city is hidden in the desert and was once a Nabataean caravan-city. Petra is a unique city, half-built and half-carved into the rock, and is surrounded by mountains that are riddled with passages and gorges. It is also one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world, where ancient Eastern traditions blend with Hellenistic architecture.

Day 6 – Travel to Wadi Rum

After breakfast, drive southwards to Wadi Rum, a moonscape terrain of ancient river beds, wind-sculpted mountains, vast desert vistas and smooth, pastel-colored sands. You will meet long-skirted legionnaires offering cardamom-spiced coffee at the “Beau Geste” outpost. Enjoy a jeep tour at this oasis, home to the film “Lawrence of Arabia.” A truly “out of this world” experience! Then, spend the night under the desert stars.

Day 7 – Travel to Dead Sea

After breakfast, transfer to the Dead Sea resort and enjoy a day at your leisure.

Day 8 – Departure from Jordan

After breakfast, transfer to Queen Alia International Airport for your onward journey.
