Day 1 – Arrival in Riyadh

Welcome to Riyadh! Upon arrival, take a transfer to your hotel where you will have dinner and settle in.

Day 2 – Explore Riyadh

In the morning, visit the historical city of Diriyah, one of the most important archaeological sites in terms of the history of Saudi Arabia. Also tour Masmak Fort, a 19th century palace and garrison, as well as Deerah Souq which is famous for its collection of antiques including carpets, daggers, and jewelry. In the afternoon, explore the National Museum and learn more about Arabian history before heading to Kingdom Tower Bridge for panoramic views of the city. 

Day 3 – Riyadh to Hail

After breakfast at the hotel, take a transfer to the airport for your flight to Hail. After arriving in Hail and transferring to your hotel, visit the beautiful rock carvings at Jubbah which date back 4000 years. Also tour Qishla Palace and A’arif Fort before heading back for dinner. 

Day 4 – Hail to AlUla

After breakfast at the hotel, drive to AlUla and set up camp. Spend the afternoon exploring the old town, wandering through alleys surrounded by mud brick houses that date back nearly 1000 years. Before dinner, make a stop at the Harrat Viewpoint. Actually the summit of a volcanic mountain, Harrat Viewpoint is the perfect place to watch the sunset paint over the surrounding canyons and rock formations. 

Day 5 – Explore AlUla

Today, take a full day excursion to UNESCO World Heritage Site Madain Saleh and the surrounding archaeological sites. At Hegra, admire the architecture of ancient tombs, including stunning facades and cleverly built wells and water channels. Visit Dadan, the site that put Saudi Arabia on the map for archaeology with its 2000-year-old buildings carved into the cliff-faces. Return to the camp for dinner.

Day 6 – AlUla to Al Jouf

In the morning, drive from AlUla to Al Jouf. Make a stop at Dumat al Jandal, an ancient city that served as a major intersection of trade routes. While in Dumat al Jandal, walk through the Omar Mosque, built in 644 and whose minaret is considered the oldest in North Arabia. Upon arrival in Al-Jouf, transfer to your hotel and have dinner.

Day 7 – Al Jouf to Jeddah

After breakfast at the hotel, take a sightseeing tour of Al Jouf with visits to Za’abal Fortress and Ar Rajajil Standing Stones. The Za’abal Fortress offers views of the city, and also serves as a catch basin for water as it sits on top of a centuries-old well system that distributes water throughout the city. Carved from sandstone, the Ar Rajajil Standing Stones are considered Saudi Arabia’s Stonehenge and are thought to be 6000 years old.  In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for your flight to Jeddah, where you will have dinner upon arrival. 

Day 8 – Departure from Jeddah

In the morning, visit Nasif House and take in the unique architectural style of Jeddah and wander through the Fish Market. In the afternoon, explore the Abdul Rauf Khalil Art Museum as well as the Corniche area along the water. Transfer to the airport for your departure and bid Saudi Arabia farewell for now.
