Day 1,Santiago, Chile

Transfer to the hotel upon arrival in Santiago. Take a tour of the capital city, where you will see sites like the San Francisco Church, the Barrio Paris and London, and more. Afterward, you will visit sites such as the Plaza de Armas and Cathedral, the Main Post Office, and many other amazing works of architecture. Then you will drive up to the top of the San Cristóbal Hill and witness a fantastic view of Santiago and the Andes Mountains. You will then pass through the modern residential areas of conclude at the bustling Providencia shopping zone.

Day 2,Santiago, Chile—Calama, Chile—San Pedro de Atacama, Chile

In the morning you will be transferred to the airport for the flight to Calama (not included). Upon arrival you will be met by our local tour guide and then transferred to San Pedro de Atacama. There you will spend the afternoon on a half-day San Pedro de Atacama city walk and see the unique architectural of style Spanish Conquerors and its beautiful colonial church that was built in 1577. You will then be driven to the Moon Valley in the late afternoon and see its silent moonscape and the snow-capped volcanoes in the background. (B)

Day 3,San Pedro de Atacama, Chile

Today you will start your tour visiting the massive Atacama Salt Lake, an inland sea dating back millions of years. We then follow the road to Argentina and see the Lagunas Miscanti & Meñiques, set at the base of two immense volcanoes. These otherworldly altiplano lakes are fringed with salt deposits and surrounded by brilliantly colored clumps of paja brava, making it a truly inspirational sight. Afterward, visit the small Indian village of Toconao. (B, L)

Day 4,San Pedro de Atacama, Chile

You will have a full day at your leisure. Optional tours are available and can be booked at our local house. You will be awed by the natural wonder of the area regardless of how you spend your day, as San Pedro de Atacama sits in the middle of northern Chile's most breathtaking scenery. One popular option is an excursion to El Tatio. Leave early morning (04:00 AM) departure and drive 126 km northeast to the Tatio Geysers. The steaming geysers are considered at their best between 06:30 AM and 08:30 AM. (B)

Day 5,San Pede de Atacama, Chile—Lima, Peru

Transfer to Calama Airport for the flight to Lima via Santiago de Chile (not included). Arrive in Lima and then transfer to the hotel. Lima was founded in 1535 by the Spanish and titled “The City of the Kings.” Peru’s historical city center comes with splendid colonial style architecture, ample squares such as the Plaza de Armas (or Plaza Mayor) and grand churches, resulting in its declaration as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. Spend the night at your hotel. (B)

Day 6,Lima, Peru—Cusco, Peru—Yucay, Peru

Transfer to the airport for the flight from Peru to Cusco. Upon arrival you will start on a tour of the Chinchero community, located just 28 km from Cusco, a spectacular setting to explore the Inca ruins, meet the local people, or even barter in the market. The area is known for the independent cultural identity and unique weaving techniques. And of course see the remains of the royal hacienda of Tupac, Inca Yupanqui. Return to the hotel for the night. Day 7,Yucay, Peru

Spend the morning enjoying one of four optional excursions. Options include: An excursion to Moray and Maras (4h), Urubamba River Rafting (3h, 1h 30min in the river), biking at the Sacred Valley: Yanahuara (4h; 2h 30min of which is biking), and hiking Ollantaytambo: Cachicata (3h). In the afternoon, you will visit Ollantaytambo, a typical Inca community. Towering above the town is the Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo. Spend the night at your hotel. (B)

Day 8,Yucay, Machu Picchu, and Cusco

In the morning, transfer by bus to the train station of Ollantaytambo where the tour starts by train, taking you through the fertile plain of the Urubamba Valley and on to Aguas Calientes. From here, buses drive up the steep mountain to the ruin town. Machu Picchu, called the Lost City of the Incas, is a beautifully located impressive stone city constructed with a technique incredible for its era and even for present times. Afterwards return by bus and train to the Ollantaytambo station. Then transfer to your hotel in Cusco. (B)

Day 9,Cusco

Cusco, South America's oldest continuously inhabited city, is now one of Peru’s most important and most frequented tourist attractions. It also boasts magnificent repositories of colonial art. Enjoy a half-day Cusco city tour, which includes the Plaza de Armas, the exact center of the Incan Empire. The next stop will be the old town with its stunning renovated colonial buildings. We then head to Sacsayhuaman, a ruin site located approximately 3 km above Cusco featuring a fabulous view over the city. Spend the afternoon at your leisure.

Day 10,Cusco and Puno, Peru

Embark on a full day bus tour from Cusco to Puno. On the way you will visit the town of Andahuaylillas, the ruins of Racchi, and the small town of Pucara. Lunch will be provided at a restaurant en route. Upon arrival in Puno transfer to your hotel. Puno is rich in archaeological, cultural, and architectural variety due to the fact that it has been inhabited by three different civilizations: Aymara, Quechua and, Spanish. The main attraction of Puno is Titicaca Lake, a must for any visitor. (B, L)

Day 11,Puno – Lima, Peru

In the morning you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Puno’s dock where you will depart for the Uros Islands located on Titicaca Lake. The Uros are 40 small floating islands made of packed totora (reed), located within the Titicaca National Reserve. After visiting the Uros Islands we will continue by boat to Taquile Island, where they have maintained their traditions and culture. Lunch at Taquile Island is included. After lunch, transfer from the hotel to the airport of Juliaca and fly to Lima (flight not included). (B, L)

Day 12,Lima, Peru

In the afternoon you will explore the city on a Lima sightseeing tour, which includes the Plaza de Armas, the Government Palace, the Town Hall, and several other sites. After your tour, you will visit the beautiful San Francisco Monastery, which displays the largest collection of religious art in America. The tour proceeds through the modern districts of San Isidro and Miraflores and to the beaches of Lima and the Pacific Ocean. Afterwards enjoy a guided visit of one of Lima’s most noted museums: the Rafael Larco Herrera Archaeological Museum, home to the world’s largest private collection of Peruvian pre-Columbian Art. (B)

Day 13,Lima, Peru – Iguassu, Brazil

You will be transferred from the hotel to the airport for a flight to Iguassu (not included). You are then transferred to the hotel. Iguassu is located amid a sub-tropical forest in the triangle of Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil. A gigantic row of marvelous waterfalls goes down into the river Iguassu, making it one of the biggest waterfall systems in the world and one of the greatest natural wonders of South America. (B)

Day 14,Iguassu, Brazil

Travel by motor coach and cross the Iguassu National Park toward the Brazilian Falls. From here, walk along the paths following the cascades and then along the catwalk, which leads you very close to the bottom of the Devil’s Throat. After your trek take an elevator back to the road and board the motor coach, which will take you to the Argentinean side of the falls. The Ecological Jungle Train leads you to the most impressive observation point of the Iguassu Falls: The Devil’s Throat. We then return to the hotel. (B)

Day 15,Iguassu, Brazil – Buenos Aires, Argentina

Transfer from the hotel to the airport for the flight to Buenos Aires (flight not included). Upon arrival in Buenos Aires, you will be transferred to the hotel. Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, is considered one of the 10 most important metropolises in the world and is the center of the political, economic, and intellectual life of the country. This cosmopolitan city, with great European cultural influence, displays a refined taste in its cooking, in its boutiques, and in the elegance of its inhabitants. Be sure to enjoy the plentiful night life visiting tango bars, cabarets, and restaurants.

Day 16,Buenos Aires, Argentina

After breakfast, embark on a Buenos Aires city tour. Your tour starts at the Plaza de Mayo, featuring the Pink House and the Seat of Government, among other sites. The tour also visits the district of San Telmo, which includes La Boca, the Barrio Norte, and the Recoleta Cemetery. Walk along the widest avenue in the world, the Avenida 9 de Julio, and then continue to the Plaza Lavalle to Palermo with its parks and gardens. Then it’s back to the hotel. Spend the remainder of the day at your leisure. (B)

Day 17,Buenos Aires, Argentina

Spend the day at your leisure or taking one of two optional tours. Option one: a full day Argentinean Estancia lunch experience. After a 2 hour drive to Los Cordales, we will reach Estancia Santa Susana, where you will enjoy a drink and rustic barbeque lunch with fine meat and sausages. After lunch enjoy regional music, dances, and performances. Option two will take you on a half day Tigre Tour. Drive to San Isidro and enjoy a one-hour boat excursion along the Paraná-Delta. (B)

Day 18,Buenos Aires, Argentina – Colonia, Chile – Montevideo, Uruguay

In the morning, transfer to the ferry station and embark on a Buquebus ride to Colonia (1h). Upon arrival you will get a comprehensive Colonia city tour. The Uruguay River and the emblematic monuments stand out on the horizon and include the Cathedral, the Lighthouse, and the real de San Carlos Bullring. Some other tour highlights include Santa Rita, San Gabriel, the Matriz Church, and many more. The city tour ends at the bus terminal where you will board a comfortable air-conditioned bus to Montevideo. Upon arrival your tour guide will pick you up at the bus terminal and take you to the hotel. (B)

Day 19,Montevideo, Uruguay

You will be picked up at your hotel for a comprehensive Montevideo city tour. The main points of interest on the Montevideo tour include the Old City, Mercado del Puerto, and Constitution Square, among others. We will also drive through the Prado neighborhood, featuring one of the city’s oldest parks, complete with a beautiful rose garden. You will then continue to Batlle and Ordoñez Park, pass by the Obelisk, and the Soccer Stadium. Then return to your hotel along the coast. (B)

Day 20,Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

You will transfer from the hotel to the airport for the flight to Rio de Janeiro (not included). Arrive in Rio and transfer to the hotel. Rio de Janeiro, recent host of the Olympic Games, was founded in 1556. Rio is surrounded by natural beauty on all sides with Christ the Redeemer perched on top of Corcovado, blessing the city and Sugar Loaf Mountain, one of the most famous postcards of the country. The intoxicating energy of the city will captivate you as you see the wildlife, hear the music, and join in the roaring crowds.

Day 21,Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Leave the hotel for a full day Rio city tour. Proceed to Cosme Velho Station for a train ride through Tijuca Forest up Corcovado Mountain, then continue to the top lookout where Christ the Redeemer stands. As you descend by train you will pass the Urca District to board a cable car for a two-staged ascent up Sugar Loaf Mountain. Visit downtown, passing by the financial and business center and other attractions such as the Candelaria Church, Saint Sebastian Cathedral, and Lapas Arches. Option: Rio by night – Visit a folklore and Carnival show featuring skilled dancers, entertainers, samba bands, and costumes. (B)

Day 22,Rio de Janeiro – Detroit

Transfer to the airport for your international flight back home (not included). (B)
